    Frequent Asked Questions

    Travel Planing

    - Passport

A valid passport is required for entry (with a validity of at least six months beyond the end of your travel period).

Non-U.S. citizens are required to have passports, visas, and other necessary documents for entry into their destination country.

It's important to avoid packing your passport or travel documents in your luggage. To determine whether you need to apply for a visa before your trip, please refer to this website.

    - Travel Insurance

To enter Israel, travel medical insurance is mandatory.  All foreign nationals wanting to visit Israel must provide proof of a travel medical insurance policy with coverage for COVID-19 treatment.

    - Attend the Tour Israel 2024 orientation meeting.
To ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for all participants, attendance at the orientation meeting for Tour 2024 is mandatory. This meeting will provide you with important information about the trip, including safety guidelines, itinerary details, and cultural norms of the destination.
Additionally, you will be required to sign up for the trip guidelines, which outlines the expectations and responsibilities of all participants. By attending the orientation meeting and signing up for the guidelines, you will help to ensure a successful and unforgettable journey.

Israel is a country that is generally considered safe for tourists, but ensuring your safety is our top priority. In addition to implementing various measures to ensure our participants' safety, we also strongly encourage travelers to take the necessary precautions they would take when visiting any unfamiliar city or country.

Prior to your trip, we recommend checking with your cell phone carrier to explore any international options that they offer as most providers provide such plans. Additionally, if your phone is unlocked, you may also opt to purchase a prepaid SIM card at a reasonable price.

If you plan to bring electronics to Israel, it's important to note that most hotels in the country use 220 volts AC 50 Hz power.

To operate 120 volts, 60 Hz appliances such as hair dryers or electric razors, you'll need to bring along converters and adapters. Some smaller devices are dual-voltage and can automatically adjust for use in other countries, but if your appliance has a manual switch, you'll need to change it back and forth before plugging it in.
For dual voltage electronics, simply bring an adapter to plug in the charger. Before you travel, check the manual or power cord for each device to determine if it will work with 220 voltage without a converter. Keep in mind that U.S. electronics that are not dual-voltage should never be used without a converter in countries that use 220 voltage.

We recommend bringing US Dollars, as this currencies can be easily exchanged for the Israeli Shekel. You will find currency exchange locations throughout each city in Israel, including at most hotels.

Additionally, you can obtain Shekels prior to your departure. Please be aware that currency exchange rates can vary from place to place, and some locations may charge commission.
Foreign debit/credit cards are widely accepted in most shops and restaurants. However, it is advisable to exchange some money for Israeli Shekels, as there are a few establishments that may only accept cash, particularly those outside of tourist areas or in the markets. It's important to have Shekels on hand for these situations.

Expect to walk an average of 2-3 miles per day as most activities involve walking. It is important to wear comfortable shoes or sneakers to ensure a pleasant experience. The walks are typically light to moderately, with breaks throughout the day as you travel to and from different sites. Keep in mind that the terrain may be uneven and involve steps, so please take necessary precautions.

In Jerusalem, the temperature is expected to range between 15-27°C (60-81°F), while in Tiberias and the Dead Sea area, it will be warmer, with temperatures ranging from 17-35°C (62-95°F). Therefore, we recommend bringing along essential items such as sunglasses, a hat, and appropriate clothing to ensure your comfort during your stay.

Make sure to pack clothing suitable for warm weather, as well as a jacket for cooler evenings.
Additionally, bring clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, also known as 'holywear', as this will be required at some of the sites we will visit. It's important to bring comfortable shoes or sneakers as there will be plenty of walking involved.

Basic gratuities for the hotels, guides, and drivers are not included.  The going rates for gratuities are 10-15%. You are always free to give an extra gratuity for exemplary service
